Join us for an Advance Sea Kayaking week in N. Wales, Holy Head. May 11-18th, 2012

Holy Island off of Anglesey, N. Wales is a world renowned exciting place to paddle. Holy Island reaches out into the Irish Sea’s tidal streams and is loaded with majestic cliffs and caves rolling off the shoulders of Holy Mountain into the sea. Thus creating some of the famed tide races and over falls in the UK. Like Penrhyn Mawr, North Stack, South Stack, and other locations like The Skerries and Carmel Head off the North West coast of Anglesey.

We will be joined by Sea Kayaking UK‘s rough water guides and BCU coaches all week.

Imagine rivers and damed land masses of islands restricking the water flow as the sea surface gradent changes to a + then a -. The tides range 18- 25 ft in this area. So journeying to area’s like the outer coast of Campobello with it’s majestic cliffs and the real deal pull of the Grand Manan channel flow, plus the calling of the Grand Manan. To running the current flows for 23 mile journey up to Lateet’s Passage and back finding a few tide races along the way. Then a run up the remote coast of the Bold Coast while being sucked upped the Grand Manan channel, to the powerful Cobscook tidal rapids. Where 30 ft trawlers lay at rest on the ebb, as they made some serious mistakes, and hard eddie walls and “green witch” whirlpools take you for a real spin.
